This Gen Takes Center Stage: A Ribbon, a Prayer, and a Whole Lot of Heart in Downtown Aynor

Yesterday evening, downtown Aynor got a fresh jolt of joy—and scissors.

The Aynor Area Chamber of Commerce proudly snipped the ceremonial ribbon on The Rock Church’s brand-new This Gen Venue at 513 8th Avenue, and let’s just say the kids stole the show before the adults could even clear their throats.

Picture this: a crisp November night, twinkling string lights, and a swarm of middle- and high-schoolers buzzing like they’d just downed a vat of sweet tea. The star of the night? A pair of oversized golden scissors passed to two student-ministry rockstars. These leaders didn’t just hold the scissors; they earned them, and Pastor Scott made sure everyone knew it.

Then came the moment that melted the sidewalk: Scott asked,

“How many of you wrote a name on the sheet rock during construction—someone you wanted to pray for?” Nearly every hand in the crowd rose.

That’s the magic of This Gen. It’s not a “youth room.” It’s not a “future church.” It’s their church—right now. A 6,000-square-foot love letter to the kids who believe downtown Aynor isn’t just a memory, but a mission field. Sundays? Elementary worship. Wednesdays? High-school hangout. Thursdays? Middle-school mayhem (the holy kind). And every day in between? A space where faith isn’t handed down—it’s lived out loud.

One of the student leaders closed us in prayer, voice steady, words simple, amen thunderous. If you weren’t there, just imagine your heart doing that little skip it does when kids remind you they’re already the revival we keep praying for.

To the families, volunteers, contractors, and every kid who scribbled a name: Thank you. You didn’t just build a building. You built a beacon.

Spooktacular Trunk or Treat Winners Announced!

What a frightfully fun night at Aynor Town Park! The Aynor Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who participated in our Spooktacular Trunk or Treat and helped make it a Halloween night to remember. From ghosts and goblins to candy and creativity — this year’s trunks were truly boo-tiful!

And now… the moment you’ve been waiting for!

Fan Favorite – Studio 507

Studio 507 danced down the Yellow Brick Road with their enchanting Wizard of Oz theme! Every team member dressed as a beloved character — from Dorothy to the Tin Man — bringing a touch of classic magic to Aynor. Voted on by fans across Facebook, this trunk stole everyone’s hearts (and a few pieces of candy too)

Boo-tastic Experience – Aynor Health & Fitness

Who says you can’t work out on Halloween? Aynor Health & Fitness brought energy and laughter with their “Trick or Training” trunk! Kids completed quick challenges like planks, pushups, or curls to “earn” their treats. With Ryan cheering them on like a personal trainer, this trunk had everyone flexing for fun!

Creepiest Creation – Palmetto Child

Palmetto Child turned their space into a spooky graveyard and haunted trail lined with glowing lights and eerie trees. At the end of the trail? A mystical candy table that shimmered with Halloween magic. Their setup glowed (and haunted) beautifully all night long!

Chamber Choice – Coastal Home & Land Realty

Coastal Home & Land turned up the fun with a massive inflatable Halloween castle, great music, and a glowing prize wheel! Kids spun to win glow jewelry, headbands, teeth, and of course—plenty of candy! Their bright, welcoming display made everyone feel like a winner.

The Aynor Area Chamber of Commerce proudly hosted a Meet the Candidates event for those running for Aynor Town Council. This was the first meet-and-greet in many years, and the energy in the room was electric!

Our fantastic MC, Ryan Graham, kicked things off with a warm introduction, followed by thoughtful questions curated by the Chamber. Then, we opened the floor for attendees to ask their burning questions directly to the candidates. It was a lively, engaging discussion that showcased the passion and vision for Aynor’s future!

The Aynor Area Chamber of Commerce is BACK and buzzing with new energy! We’re committed to helping our community thrive, and we need YOU to get involved!
